Have you heard? NeighborWorks Umpqua (NWU) is Now Offering Computer Repair & IT Services for Douglas County! Affordable Local Tech (ALT) will look to close the digital divide in rural communities. NWU is proud to announce a new service for Douglas County:  affordable personal computer (PC) repairs and information technology (IT) services! To help combat the technological inequality seen in rural communities, NWU has adde affordable priced computer repairs and IT services for businesses, nonprofits, families, and individuals. This brand new company, PC Repairs & IT Services – Affordable Local Tech (ALT), is designed to be your affordable local tech.

ALT believe that access to information technology helps level the playing field. The digital divide has promoted a system of inequality within our rural communities, with a lack of specialized, affordable computer repair and IT services being a primary factor in promoting this inequality. ALT will change that. ALT will ensure everyone will have access to the tools needed to succeed by providing free computer diagnostics and a sliding scale rate for their service fees.

By providing free computer diagnostics and a sliding scale rate, ALT will ensure everyone will have access to the tools needed to succeed in the digital age. Income-qualified families will see most PC issues resolved or fixed for $50 and Oregon Trailcard holders receive a 50% discount.  In addition, the company will offer an affordable Managed Services program called myIT. As a part of the service, ALT will become your IT Manager and provide you with monitored cybersecurity, disaster recovery, Help Desk, and staff training services for an affordable monthly rate.  Families can also get the peace of mind of professional cybersecurity protection and PC repair services to keep your PC running in tip-top shape for a flat fee of $20 a month. To help deliver this new and innovative service to Roseburg, NWU will partner with Shawn Romine.

Shawn has a Master’s degree in Educational Technology Leadership and over 35 years of technology experience helping people in the public, private, military, nonprofit, and education fields improve their work and lives. Shawn has been in our community for 15 years and was previously the IT Manager of The Ford Family Foundation and IT Support Specialist for the Douglas County Library System. Thanks to his thorough work, many local businesses and nonprofits are already enjoying the company’s services such as Boys and Girls Club of Umpqua Valley, Premier Insurance, Battered Persons Advocacy, Casa De Belen, and more!

“PC Repairs & IT Services makes you feel like you are the priority by responding quickly and providing innovative solutions to meet your needs,” explains Melanie Prummer, Executive Director of Battered Persons Advocacy. “They are a company that can be trusted with the most sensitive information and a system that you rely on each day. You are given options so you can make informed decisions about your agency’s technology with no pressure.”
